The enigmatic and eccentric captain of the Starship Legitimacy. Mostly counts as the captain because he own the ship, and even then not legally. Lupen helps to continue the tradition of dramatic swordfights and daring escapes into the age of energy guns and magic.

Lupen thrives on notoriety in the most literal sense; if people actually quit talking about him and paying attention to him, he could die for real. So whether his actions earn him fame or infamy, he's still winning. It is a fine line to walk, though, between getting himself and his crew in enough trouble to continue his reputation, and too much trouble for them to deal with.
